Frequently Asked Questions
»  Index  »  Group Class  »  Private Lessons  »  FAQs

How do I start?
For our social class you can arrive 5-10 minutes early, so that we can register your information and show you around the studio. No pre-booking is required. For our medallist classes or to book private lessons please contact us on 08 9457 0611 or via email info@dancewerx.com.au with your preferred days and times and we will contact you to make a booking.

Can I join a group class if it has already started?
Our Kids Social Class is ongoing, meaning it is always suitable for first timers and you can join at any time. The medal classes run to a structured format so please contact the studio if you are interested in joining a medal class and we will do our best to accomodate you as quickly as possible.

Can I pay as I go or do I have to pay upfront?
We offer both options for your convenience. With our social classes you can enjoy a discounted rate by purchasing 5 lessons upfront for $40 or you can enjoy a casual weekly class rate of $10 per person. Private lesson customers can also enjoy a discounted rate by purchasing lessons in 5 or 10 hour blocks. These packages represent fantastic value for money but again we also offer a pay as you go option for private tuition as well. It’s completely up to you.

What if I don’t have a partner?
No problem! You don’t need a partner to enjoy any of our classes. We will provide you with the opportunity to rotate partners and practice dancing with different people. Not only is this a great way to hone your partnering skills but is also a great way for you to meet new people.

What do I wear?
Your comfort is our main priority. You should wear something that is comfortable and easy to move in. DanceWerx doesn’t have a particular dress code however smart, casual dress attire is usually the norm. Jeans, t-shirts, dresses… whatever you feel most comfortable in is fine with us.

What footwear should I wear?
Your shoes should be comfortable, leather or suede soled shoes are always best. Sneakers and rubber soled shoes tend to squeak on the floor and can be quite difficult to dance in. Special dance shoes are available for purchase from the studio however for our beginners and social dancers these are not a necessary requirement.

Are parents welcome to stay?
Absolutely, DanceWerx encourage parents to enjoy a coffee and a biscuit whilst watching their kids burn up the dance floor. Parents are always welcome!
